Westonbirt

About 45 minutes drive from our Melksham training centre (past Chippenham on th eway to Gloucester) you'll come to Westonbirt Arboretum. Founded in 1830, it's now looked after by the Forestry Commission, and houses a magnificent display of tree specimens - native, imported and exotic.

Magnificent driveways lead between mature specimens in the Old Arboretum, with wide walkways between tall, carefully labeled trees.

There are plenty of benches throughout the arboretum so that you can stop awhile to take it all in, or to simply rest your legs.

Wildlife at Westonbirt - a bee on a thistle

During the daytime, the cafe, the interpretation centre, and the information point are available. In the evening, all goes quiet and you can enjoy a degree of solitude even in the core of the arboretum.
