As a low level language, there are a number of things that C does NOT do for you that other languages do. For example, if you use the contents of an uninitialised variable you'll get unpredicatble results, and if you reference off the end of an array you'll use or corrupt other variables or your code. Such issues, together with bad programming and a lack of thorough testing, have caused some of the major internet security holes we've seen over recent years. In this module, we study the issues that you need to guard against and teach you how to write robust and reliable code in C.
