Perl or PHP - Which should I use?

Perl or PHP - Which should I use?

Which language should you use for a particular application? Perl is a superb language for a very wide range of applications, but there are elements of it that are overcomplex when you get into web use just because of the shere flexibility and too-many-options. PHP is much more tuned for web work and has some things that can be done for web use more easily than in Perl. I guess my answer to the "PHP or Perl" question is: (a) if you know one of them already, stick with it. (b) If the majority of your application is web, use PHP; if it's a mixture or mainkly away from the web, use Perl.
