The "Costa Mediterranea", docked at Izmir, Turkey on Wednesday, 13th October 2004. This ship hosted the "Perl Whirl" 2004 conference which Lisa and Graham Ellis attended, to listen to the likes of Randal Schwartz, Alison Randall, Marty Pauley, David Cross, and Larry Wall talk on advanced Perl subjects, the philosophy and practise behind Perl 6, and much more. "Who trains the trainer?" you may ask. "How do YOU learn Perl / why should I attend YOUR course?". Well - I'm proud to be a "second level" trainer. I'll never know as much about Perl as Larry or Alison, but then I have a much broader knowledge (of PHP, MySQL, Web pages, HTML and more) and I can present you with the fundamentals and intermediate aspects of Perl in the context in which you'll be using them. I have the time to spend preparing and presenting excellent classes (as I'm not rushed off my feet preparing the next generation of the language itself), and I can do so at a very reasonable cost. Well House Consultants made a considerable investment in sending me to the Mediterranean to attend this conference, to listen to and learn from lecturers from all over Europe, the USA and elsewhere too. And you'll benefit from that experience on our courses, secure in the knowledge that you're not only learning Perl, but learning about Perl as it's intended to be used, with one eye for the future so that your code will be well written, maintainable, and will naturally lead you on to future versions of the language.
