Upgrading Mac OS X

Posted by Lisa_Ellis (Lisa Ellis), 12 September 2004
My Printer Utility won't add a new printer (the app crashes). This happened after I upgraded to 10.3.5 using Apple's installer. In researching how to fix, I came upon a caution that I think is the source of the evil. In warning Graham, he recommended I share with you too.

Updating MacOS X: Repair permissions!

The caution starts out with "It is absolutely essential to repair permissions before and after you run any update that uses Apple's installer application!" and then continues to tell why.

I fear my only recourse is to reinstall my system, or wait for a new OS update...but I'm trying to fight it as long as I don't need to add a new printer.
