The Linux operating system is prevalent on server
systems these days, and with good cause. It's an excellent, Open Source
operating system, robust, and with a very wide range of features and
utilities. It's efficient in operation and there are lots of people
who know it and will support it. Linux is a
computer scientists's
operating system still - in other words it's really not got an ease and
simplicity of operation (the plug and play of Windows)
At Well House Consultants, we can't possibly provide training on every
part of Linux even though it's our own main operating system and we've
been using it for ages. We've chosen to provide a limited range of short
courses to suit the needs of our customer base:
• [
Link] Linux Basics - a one-day
introduction for newcomers to Linux, suffient for users who will be
looking after a simple website on a server they do not administer.
• [
Link] Linux Administration - a
one-day introduction which follow on from the Linux Basics day.
• [
Link] Linux WebServer - installing
and configuring the AMP or LAMP - Apache httpd, MySQL and PHP, and their
basic administration.
In combination, these three courses will give you a good grounding if you're
setting up a web server system within a clean, firewalled environment with
other services such as DNS, network login service if needed, mail servers,
and the external firewall taken care of by others for you. As a combined
course, the 4 days are known as
Deploying
Linux
We are able to offer some additional Linux elements on private courses -
please do ask us.
